Hello Heather:
Bringing my daughter to the Makoto Karate Academy has been a great experience for both, my daughter and me. I always wanted my daughter to have an activity after school and I gave her many choices from music to dance classes but to my surprise she chose Karate and I'm glad she did. I love being amazed by the confidence she has gained from taking those classes and how she's always striving to gain more knowledge. She never gives up and if she doesn't get it the first time she'll continue doing it until she gets it; Furthermore, she has taught me a very important lesson which is to never give up and always do your best and I'm glad I finally understood it thanks to my 5 year old. It's great to see the older kids willing to help the younger kids and you and Sensei Ed are always there to answer any questions we have making us feel that we are really part of a big family. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of Makoto Karate Academy and we look forward to many more years.
Truly Yours,
MARIA and GEORGETTE

We think Makoto Karate Academy is a fantastic dojo. Sensei Ed provides a learning environment that combines all the karate moves and techniques with an understanding that along with those things you learn self respect, self control and strength of character. He sincerely cares about the kids and makes sure they are safe, having fun and being challenged. Two of my boys – ages 11 and 6 are enrolled in the school and so am I.
My 11 year old takes the regular classes and also comes to the special Youth Team class in which they learn sparring and ground fighting techniques, he is also in amazing physical shape from all the conditioning they do. It is a great class for kids who need to learn how to become a bit more aggressive and learn self-defense (like my son) or for all kids just to understand how important it is to be strong and be in control of your body. My younger son comes to the Shoto kids class – and loves to learn the basic karate techniques and play the fun games they offer the younger kids. I really look forward to the Tuesday / Thursday morning class which works well with my busy schedule and helps keep me in shape.
MKA has a wonderful family atmosphere. We love the fact that it is not a flashy place that charges extra fees for every test or belt but that it is a place with a strong traditional philosophy, which stresses learning the basics and earning your ranks with lots of hard work and proving your ability.

The classes are outstanding!!! They have cool jumpimg kicks you would be impressed. It shows you how to defend yourself and generate power. If you do well you may go to a special class called (A TEAM)or (B TEAM), there is where all the free sparing begins you do mix martail arts, ju-jitsu ,and grappling. There is also a kids class that teaches your kids to self-defend themselves and most important to have good manners.
The best karate my son has ever been to. If you get good Enough you could be on a special class called a team or b team. My kid loves it here.
MKA is a great school which allows students to train at their own level. I noticed that the instructor is very serious, patient, positive and takes his time with each person. You can tell he really enjoys teaching. Very family oriented. Great school for all ages.
Instruction and instructors are excellent. The patience and direction is both caring and diciplined. They bring out the best in your child.
Awesome Sensi (teacher) so patient with the kids. My daughter is 5 and LOVES going to classes. I thought that she would not want to go because of the work involved but she takes Karate very seriously and wants to always stay for more classes!
